Read the excerpt from an interview with an American laborer during the Great Depression.

You know we have everything—even the most money but all you hear today is the same old baloney—the Democrats are in power and the Republicans won't let loose with the money. Well I say that the money men started this thing and I believe the government should make laws to force these capitalists to bring back prosperity. They can do it if they wanted to. But all you hear nowadays is let's balance the budget.

What claim about the New Deal is this worker making?

A. The New Deal programs cannot get funding because of political arguments.
B. The Republicans support New Deal programs to assist out-of-work laborers.
C. The budget can be balanced without government intervention from political parties.
D. The Democrats’ budget concerns are too great for them to spend money on aid programs.
